Some of the YouTubers are branching out into live broadcasts. On BlogTV viewers can post questions from a chat room. Here's a show that starts on Thursdays at 7 p.m. EST and Sundays at 9 p.m. EST. SuperEd86 started a little early tonight. Prior broadcasts are available if you scroll down. He broadcasts from Portland, Oregon. The chat room comments appear at the bottom of the player when you watch. This is his channel on YouTube.

His schtick is bit in the Jim Carrey direction. He's probably calmer live than in his YouTube comedy videos. Of the videos I've watched thus far, he mentions that he was born in Latvia and that his parents spoke Russian around him when he was child.

There is also a site with a similar service called Ustream.tv. BlogCatalog has a channel on the site. Being a participant on that site, I’ve tuned into some broadcasts on BC’s channel. So far, Erica O'Grady has broadcast four discussions about social media. Again there is a chatroom for viewers to ask questions.

Another site I found, because of a YouTuber, is Stickcam. This site is geared to those folks who enjoy webcam interaction. Thus, I really haven't explored the site much. Help walks you through the setup.

The ruling comes as part of Google's legal battle with Viacom over allegations of copyright infringement.

Digital rights group the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) called the ruling a "set-back to privacy rights".

Back from the Vog

My first day back at work from our 3 week holiday and I'm feeling - not too bad actually.

Kona was great, but it's been suffering from vog (volcanic fog) for the last few months. The whole place is a bit hazy and rich in sulphur dioxide (yum). It was still beautiful and a great time.

Everywhere we stayed had wireless access - so I never really took a break from the Sift. [Cue Persephone rolling her eyes]

Every time I go back to the US I feel a little more like a stranger in my home country. This time it was the little things that left an impression. There's so much water in American toilet bowls! It lets you see your leavings in gory 3D detail as it swishes down.

Also, Cadillac Escalades ... people who buy those - what are they thinking? Isn't a "luxury off-road vehicle" kind of a contradiction? If I paid 50K for an SUV I would not stray an inch off the pavement.

major purchases included clothes and a 7 piece set of Kirkland stainless steel cookware from Costco. I love that place.

No punchline, really. I have to make a costume for a Llama. If I pull it off, I'll post a picture. The show is in a couple of weeks.

For the next two weeks my kids have 4-H Fair to prepare for and participate in. I'm also planting a flower garden sooooo I'm not going to post any sifts or mind my channel for the next two weeks.

I'm sure insomnia will have me here late at night though.

This was taken after the glorious opposition, so Mars had already shrunk to 1/225th the width of the full moon by this time. To put this size into perspective, hold your thumb out at arms length. Mars as seen here is approximately 1/900th the width of your thumb.

I took this with an 8" refractor and a Phillips webcam.

TDTUC obvioulsy doesn't interest that many people (cept for fellow fan Jwray), but the project was huge and each episode took about 4 hours+ to craft, it was a mighty task and well worth the reward of a job well done from Mr Burke himself, no less. Again all done in my spare time, fueled by a passion for research and archiving.

But more its just always followed my online video philosophy; when you share something, breath something new into it.

That Documentary series has evolved thanks to the Internet. Thanks to whomever uploaded it to YouTube the clips have been available to the world for year now, thanks to me each episode is now transcribed with links to every topic mentioned in the series, and thanks to mahalo eventually every topic will be full of the best information on each topic available on the web. Therefor....in 2008 any newb watching James Burke for the first time will have a more full experience then those who watched back those who watched back in 1985.

It was a primer, for my latest project, using the exact same format as done with TDTUC, I have started to do the same work for The Daily Show. Here is the March 6 2003 Episode displayed on Mahalo. Time considering, I hope to build more of these pages.

Please, let me know what you think of this. Do you think watching info television in this manner enhances your viewing experience? The episode is clipped up into parts, beneath are internal links to each subject brought up in the clip, the episode is summed up by citing the news references with external links. And of course embeds...wonderful wonderful embeds.
